ExpertFit is a computer program for determining what probability distribution
best fits a data set. It is the Windows-based successor to UniFit II, and
has more than 1300 users worldwide.
ExpertFit is both easy to use and comprehensive, with its features arranged
into modules. Different users can choose the features appropriate for their
needs and backgrounds.
It is widely used by people doing discrete-event simulation studies in such
application areas as manufacturing, military planning, health care, and
communications networks. It is also employed in such diverse disciplines
as:
| actuarial |
hydrology |
Monte Carlo simulation |
| demography |
marketing research |
psychology |
| economics |
medicine |
reliability engineering |
| forestry |
mining |
risk analysis |
The following are important features of ExpertFit:
-
Automatically and accurately determines the best probability distribution
for your data set in seconds
-
Distribution-selection algorithm is based on 18 years of experience and research
-- it does not depend on arbitrary histogram intervals as in simulation software
input processors and most stand-alone products
-
Decides whether selected distribution is good in an absolute sense, or whether
an empirical distribution should be used in the case of simulation modeling
-- no other software package has this capability
-
Gives you access to more than 40 probability distributions
-
Distribution is put into the proper format for 33 simulation software products
-
Comprehensive context-sensitive help
-
You only need a basic knowledge of statistics to do world-class distribution
fitting, since we have done 18 years of research for you
Benefits
-
Eliminates errors in your analysis -- many software packages and books contain
erroneous results
-
Saves you time -- a typical ExpertFit analysis takes just minutes
-
Allows you to do a much more comprehensive analysis than could be done by
hand, using standard statistical packages, or using simulation software input
processors
-
Expands the capabilities of simulation software products by providing special
constructs for the ExpertFit distributions that are not built-in (most simulation
products have roughly 10 distributions) -- many data sets can only be represented
by a less common distribution
-
Allows you to plot any number of distributions on the same graph, making
comparisons easy -- this feature is not available in other products
