SPC: Control Charts provides seven hours of interactive multimedia instruction in a core set of SPC skills. Using color graphics, animation, comprehensive audio narration and extensive student interaction, this ten-lesson course teaches the fundamentals of SPC through demonstrations and exercises. After completing the course students will be able to select the proper control chart for a given type of data, calculate and plot data values and analyze and interpret the data to measure consistency and quality. SPC: Control Charts lets students advance through the course at their own pace, and measures their progress with practice questions during each lesson, tests at the end of each lesson, and a comprehensive final exam at the end of the course. Students can print test reports and teachers can access reports to track their students’ progress.
Students manipulate graphics to learn basic concepts before doing complex calculations.
Through the direct inspection of data, students learn to recognize and measure quality.
Complex operations are built up from simple skills. Onscreen tools assist in problem solving.
SPC: Control Charts is a highly interactive course that teaches concepts and problem solving in ways not possible in classroom- or video-based training. For example, students can manipulate data and graphics onscreen and access a variety of tools, such as an onscreen calculator for solving simple problems. In addition, an online glossary defines commonly used SPC terms and a Topic Menu lets students go directly to or repeat course topics.
The instructional design of SPC: Control Charts is also unique, ensuring that students master simple skills before tackling complex operations. Students understand control charts and distributions before calculations are introduced, and complex statistical concepts are demonstrated through animation and student interaction. In addition, decision trees help students select the proper type of control chart for their data.
SPC: Control Charts will help enhance employee's understanding of SPC and quality issues, and their implementation. This improved knowledge based on the measurement of quality will benefit the entire organization.
SPC: Control Charts has an Administrator Mode to assist facilitators in ensuring the students receive the best training possible. In the Administrator Mode, the facilitator may view progress reports of the students individually or as a group, establish new users and passwords, and assign lesson plans. The progress reports detail the results of each student's performance on lesson tests and practice questions. As an added benefit, the report outlines the strengths and weaknesses of each student so that the administrator may address the areas in need of improvement.
Industry experts agree that self-paced instruction using computers is an effective technique for teaching students. It gives the student the opportunity to learn in a non-stressful environment where he or she can review subject matter many times over. In addition, training with computers provides a cost effective approach to training. With SPC: Control Charts many individuals or groups will receive the advantages of uniformity in training, course exams, and self-paced training, all at one cost.
