Lesson 1 Basic Concepts of SPC
In Lesson 1 statistical process control is defined, and students learn the
relationship between SPC and quality. Basic statistical concepts are introduced
including variation, frequency, average, and range. The screen layout illustrated
below is consistent throughout the program. The Instruction Box, located below
the Presentation Area, is used to present the exercise instructions. The Topic
Menu allows control of the presentation.
In the lesson below, the student is asked to drag the grapefruit with the
mouse to the appropriate histogram cell. This interaction, prevalent throughout the
SPC Control Charts training, requires the student to be an active participant
in the learning experience.
